Grant Objectives
Grants are available for local charitable causes, for organisations and individuals. Also grants may be made for International Emergency Relief causes where supported by Lions International or DEC.
Grant Application Key Criteria
Key criteria taken into account in assessing the viability of a Grant Application include:
Location
Most grants are made to charities, organisations or individuals with a presence in the St Albans City Area or who live/are based in the St Albans Area. However, we also make grants to Hertfordshire & nationally based charities and organisations that provide services locally e.g. Marie Curie, St Francis Hospice. On occasion we do make grants to international organisations and other individuals.
Size of Grants Made
Most grants are between £50-£5000 although there is no limit set if approved by St Albans Lions Club, particularly for larger projects spanning a long time period
Type of Organisation
Ideally charities should be legally registered charities with the Charity Commission and should be in good standing and have been running for over 2 years. If less than this evidence will be sought to ensure the organisation/charity is financially viable.
Other organisations may be considered if part of a national public sector organisation e.g. Hospital Trusts, schools.
For individuals evidence will be sought to substantiate the needs outlined in the Grant Application – this may be from relevant sponsors, social workers or doctors.
