We each year have a tradition in St Albans, we get Santa's Sleigh to come round to many areas of St Albans before Christmas.

Mark Pontin (Chair) from St Albans & District Foodbank attended a Lions meeting, Mark gave a presentation to the meeting stating:
The Charity has its own Board and is an Independent Charity which is supported by the Trussell Trust whose model they broadly followThe Charity has c. 130 volunteers, 6 trustees & 3 part-time employees.
They have a van, their new warehouse is in Redbourn with 7 distribution centres across St Albans and Harpenden. They provide mainly ambient food and fresh fruit and veg.
They use a voucher system and clients are referred from a variety of sources including schools, social services, churches etc.
They obtain donations from retailers, churches and some street collections.
They obtain support from some donors including A Plan, Bounce (St Stephens Church), Schools, and Arsenal Football Club.
They buy some of the food to fill the gaps on the donations from wholesalers like Bestway and Booker Foods.They have an objective to provide more than just food and have some advisers supporting clients including Citizens’ Advice and Mind.
With the current cost of living and energy cost crisis they are seeing the needs of clients rise substantially Lion President Willie congratulated Mark and his team on the work they do.
He presented a cheque for £1000 for November 22 and confirmed that St Albans Lions would commit £1k/month for the next year to the foodbank.
We the St Albans Lions Club was collecting for the Ukraine Refugee Humanitarian Appeal at St Albans Train Station on Monday & Tuesday (28th & 29th March 2022).

To support the Verulamium junior parkrun we donated a free medals to all the participants and marshals who took place on 21st November 2021.
This was the same day as the runner hit 10 ne PB's (Personal Best).
The St Albans Lions & friends spent 2hrs litter picking.
We started at The Range then moved to pass Mc Donald's up Wiltshire Avenue and then across the field to Marlborough Secondary School.
We run an annual Senior Citizens' Dinner which provided much needed company for our seniors - usually with entertainment or a quiz.
We support local people who need help - this can vary from funding coaching for children, providing furniture and transport and sponsoring local people who are doing amazing fundraising events
St Albans Lions were happy to help at the St Albans annual Firework Display on Saturday 6th November 2021.
We marshalled at the Fighting Cocks entrance.

Our Club has donated free environmental books for local primary school libraries
We collect old reading glasses, hearing aids & hearing aid batteries which are recycled and distributed via eye and ear clinics in Africa
We support some projects which are International Projects via the Lions International Network. This includes supporting disasters e.g hurricanes, fires, other disasters
